PHYSICAL APPEARANCE
Lily is definitely a good looking girl. She's slightly taller than average, and therefore stands out in a crowd. Her height makes jeans-shopping a total pain, which she resents. Lily has a heart-shaped face, and her skin is lightly tanned from all the time she spends outside. Lily's best attribute is probably her eyebrows; she has perfectly arched eyebrows, a few shades darker than her honey blonde hair. Her eyes are a light blue-green colour, framed by lashes that are just a bit too short for her liking, so she always wears mascara. Her body is generally quite fit, and she has a surprising amount of upper body strength for such a willowy-looking girl, mostly due to endless lifting of hay bales and other heavy barn equipment. Lily is a snappy dresser; she likes to save up and buy an expensive, versatile piece for her wardrobe, and then buy lots of other, cheaper garments that go with it. She's usually always well-dressed, except for when she is in a lazy mood; then you're likely to find her in sweats and an oversized shirt. Lily surprisingly quite likes body jewellery; both of her earlobes are pierced once and she usually wears small silver hoops or studs. She also has her right tragus pierced with a tiny diamond, and her nose is pierced, although she doesn't always wear the piercing. Her only tattoos are two lovehearts on the back of each ankle, on her Achilles' heels. She always has a tiny golden locket around her neck on a thin chain; inside is engraved Lilika Isabel - January 24, 1991. Her biological father gave it to her before he left her and her mother, and Lily never takes it off.

PERSONALITY
Independent: Lily is a girl who can stand on her own two feet. After she realised the painful truth that her mother wasn't going to help her, Lily became her own saviour and rescued herself from the torture her stepfather was forcing her to endure. Lily is very much an independent woman, and she's used to handling things by herself. Sometimes she finds it hard to ask for help; she sees it as weakness, admitting defeat. If someone sees that she is in trouble and offers help, she will always accept, but a bit grudgingly. Lily has learned never to really rely on someone; sometimes, they won't always pull through for you.

Loving: Despite the horror that lay within her home, Lily hasn't lost the ability to love. She trusts with all her heart and when she finds someone worthy of her love, they are showered in it. She's probably the best friend you could ever ask for; she's the kind of friend that never forgets your birthday, who makes you soup when you're sick, who will look after your horse when you're away, who pops by with little unexpected gifts. I guess this is because Lily was shown the wrong kind of love in her family; neglectful, from her mother, and sick, by her stepfather. Lily believes strongly in karma and feels that she was put through what she was to make her stronger. She loves so fiercely because she will hope it will cancel out the hate she felt earlier in life.

Bright: Lily is intelligent, and quick-witted. She's not overly intelligent in the way of schoolwork; she has to study hard to keep her grades up, and they are a testament to her efforts. She's smart in the way of reading people. Lily can quickly assess a situation and figure out the best way to diplomatically resolve it, while keeping everyone's egos intact. Lily doesn't underestimate the power of the human ego. She is careful to keep hers modest, and steers clear of those who have let theirs become inflated. Lily tries her hardest at all times to make everyone comfortable in whatever social setting they're placed in. She genuinely wants everyone around her to be as happy as they can be; and while this is not always possible, you can't fault her for not trying.

Secretive: Lily doesn't open up much. She has a terrible habit of shoving all her emotions deep down inside her, and not acknowledging them. She's quite weak in that sense; she hates to feel the pain, and instead lets it fester inside of her. Every now and then, when she has kept the emotions bottled up for much too long, the lid will blow off and Lily will snap. Rosaline Cosgrove was always a very impulsive person. When she met James Hampton at the age of seventeen, she instantly fell in love. The two teenagers were married the minute Rose turned eighteen. Their daughter, Lilika Isabel, was born not three months later, as a birth control accident. This unexpected arrival obviously caused strain on the already stressed relationship; the newlywed dust was beginning to fall off, and the naive teenagers were starting to realise the reality of marriage. Valiantly James stayed until Lily's first birthday before walking out of their lives forever. His present to her was a gold locket. Inside there was no photo, only her name and birthdate. Lily wears it each day.

Rose was an extremely naive person, and you'd think she would have learnt her lesson after the disastrous affair with James Hampton. But no. It seemed Rose's only personality trait was that she was too loving. After dating on and off for almost all of Lily's preteen life, Daniel Riley walked into their lives one day and has been there ever since, somewhat like an irritating bug that refuses to die, no matter how many times you spray it with insect killer. Lily was thirteen when Daniel and Rose met, and still thirteen when they married. Six months after the honeymoon, Daniel came into Lily's room one night and sat placidly on the end of her bed, chatting amicably about her day. This became a regular habit; after dinner, Rose would run herself a bath and spend hours in the lukewarm depths of the tub. Daniel would sit with Lily and talk. Sometimes they watched television or played a game of chess. He even helped her with homework. Lily came to like these 'bonding sessions', as he jokingly nicknamed them, and really began to feel connected to her new dad.

For her fourteenth birthday, Lily got the present that every young girl has ever wanted; a pony. She had been taking lessons since a young girl, and Daniel felt that such dedication should be rewarded. Toulouse was a pretty chestnut mare with a white snip. Lily loved her, and with renewed vigour threw herself into training. The two began rising up the ranks of the junior competitive league. Lily loved Daniel all the more for his wonderful generosity.

On Lily's sixteenth birthday things changed. As usual, Rose ran herself a bath, and as usual, Daniel came into her room. He locked the door this time. Lily found this unusual but dismissed it as he calmly discussed her birthday with her. "You're a big girl now, Lil." he'd said, eyes locking onto hers with strange force. Daniel was the only person who called her Lil. She agreed absent-mindedly, concentrating on the TV show playing on the set. Daniel's hand crept quietly onto her knee. "A very big girl." his soft voice added, hand sliding up to the hem of her skirt. Lily looked at him in panic. Shortly she realised why he'd locked the door.

Things were never the same after that. Rose continued to take her evening baths. That was what Lily said to herself. Rose needed to relax, and Daniel and Lily simply kept out of her way. After a year Daniel got too eager and bruises flowered on Lily's skin. She covered them with long shirts and scarves, and Rose was none the wiser. She had always turned a blind eye to her daughter, still too irresponsible to care for her and James' mistake. Lily was now turning eighteen, and was at the top of the junior showing league. Toulouse had been in her late twenties when Lily had got her, and now it was time to move on. Lily had steadily held down a job at a cafe for several years and was diligent saver, so she took her carefully earned money and went horse shopping. After weeks of unsuccessful attempts at the auctions, she decided to go to the local rescue shelter. The misery there was palpable, but Lily found what she'd been searching for; a gorgeous black mare with sadness in her eyes. Her name was Tru, and Lily instantly loved her. She bought the mare on the spot, and the two lost souls began saving each other. Lily had hope again; she could escape Daniel.

So she did. She kept saving, and endured another year of the torment. Finally she had enough, and she rented a tiny studio apartment, moving out of home two months after her nineteenth birthday. Daniel no longer had a hold over her; Lily was free. She trained Tru, and the once hopeless mare was now fat and shiny, and a strong competitor on the eventing circuit. Two years later, Lily had bought herself a spot at Windsor Academy to further her education. Tru had given birth to a beautiful little filly, courtesy of a champion stud. Lily was looking forward to training the young foal and continuing to take Tru to the top. However, now Daniel knows exactly where to reach her, and her mother is still none the wiser. The benefits of coming to Windsor far outweigh the risks; but the torture she endured for years at the hands of her stepfather is never far from her mind.
